Mr. Darcy (played by David Rintoul) from Pride & Prejudice (1980)
Mr. Darcy was the very first fictional character I ever fell in love with. We read Pride & Prejudice in our high school English Lit. class and I absolutely adored it. I still consider it to be the very best romance novel I've ever read. Our English Lit. teacher always followed the books we read with the movie, and after reading PandP we watched the 1980 BBC version. I still remember how I felt watching David Rintoul's performance as Mr. Darcy. It was love at first sight. Even to this day I still get butterflies in my stomach when I watch him in that movie. I loved the movie so much that I asked our teacher to make me a copy. He did, and 18-or-so years later I still have it. That poor VHS tape has been played too many times to count, and I think it's probably on it's last legs. It's actually pretty amazing that it's lasted this long! After reading PandP I went in search of all the other works by Jane Austen. I've since read all the books, and while I also love Persuasion, Sense & Sensibility, and Emma...Pride & Prejudice remains my favourite. Of the PandP movies, the 1980 BBC version is still my favourite, followed closely by the 1995 A&E version. The 1940 B&W version was kinda...meh. And I thought the most recent 2005 version was just awful. When I think of Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth, I always picture David Rintoul and Elizabeth Garvie, and all the rest of that wonderful cast. ~CREDITS~ Stamp Template by luckylooke - deviantART My Heart Will Go On by NayaG - deviantART ~Paint Shop Pro 8 |

I'm looking for more Austen literature, just as you did
I bought a second hand version of P& P (like from 70es!) 4 years ago and I've read it so many times... one day it will crumble
Now I'm looking for the english version (I read it when I was in high school, but I have not the book)
